NZ Cycling Conference 2009: Venue
As the hub of the Taranaki region, over 42,000 people currently call New Plymouth home. The seaside city is centred around its bustling port and cultural core, ensuring it is fast becoming a destination of lifestyle for big-city dwellers keen to escape urban grind but retain all the best things in life.
Over recent years New Plymouth has been building a solid network of cyclists and cycle routes (over 50km of on- and off-road cycleways). The most visible of these is New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway, a 7km waterfront pathway that connects New Plymouth with the coast and provides a spectacular focal point to the city.

In 2008, New Plymouth was named "New Zealand's Top Town" by North & South magazine. It was also honoured internationally in the 2008 Liveable Communities Awards as the best city of its size, as well as receiving awards for community sustainability and the Coastal Walkway. And it fended off all challenges in the 2009 Bikewise Mayoral Challenge to be New Zealand's "Cycle Mad City" in the large city category.
|The main venue for the conference will be the TSB Showplace in downtown New Plymouth. The TSB Showplace is a spectacular venue centrally located on New Plymouth's main street.
Conference plenary sessions will be held in the Theatre Royal, a multi-purpose theatre that provides an intimate setting. Concurrent sessions will be held in the Theatre Royal and the Alexandra Room. The exhibition and meal breaks will be located in the foyer outside the Theatre Royal.
There is a wide range of accommodation options available to cater for all tastes and budgets.
